Trip to Gawthorpe Hall

We all enjoyed a day out at Gawthorpe Hall

www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-gawthorpehall .

Gail Marsh showed us a selection of their English historic textiles. A must see for anyone interested in embroidery.

In the afternoon we viewed embroideries from around the world including a beautiful Chinese robe festooned with symbolic designs.

Malvern Hills

Hi everyone

Guess you all thought you had got rid of me!!  I can now post on your blog so when I have some suitable pics for you all I will put them on.  I miss you all and would like to say a big THANK YOU for the card and lovely present you gave me.  It was much appreciated.  I am back in Yorkshire for 'Stitching in the Dales' and just hope they do not need my passport.

Cathy's Needhams talk on Egyptian Dance and Costume

Cathy's love for Egyptian dance shows in her collection. A fascinating feature of this shawl was the metal discs that could be heard while shimmying when dancing.

Cathy's Assyut Shawl

We were very privileged to be able to see such a lovely shawl close up
